Hacking generally refers to off-road riding. Trotting along bridleways, grassy lanes, open fields, and sometimes along public roads. Hacking can be a good opportunity for some training and fitness work.
For those horses who have spent less time in an arena, hacking can be a great way to build confidence and fitness whilst not pressuring them in an arena.
Not all horses are confident when hacking on the road with certain types of traffic. I am able to provide coaching for your horse to expose them and increase their confidence when hacking around road traffic. Some horses just don’t feel comfortable leaving their familiar surroundings or being on their own.
Hacking is also an ideal way to introduce different gradients such as hills to help softly encourage the horse to use their hind quarter’s.
