Once your horse’s thick winter coat has arrived, they are more likely to sweat when exercised and take a long time to dry off. Clipping not only reduces sweating, but also enables them to dry off much more quickly and avoid chills.
Need your horse clipping but dont want the fuzz?
Clipping and mane pulling isn’t just essential to help keep horses cool and reduce sweating during exercise in the colder months. It also has many health benefits.
Clipping can help maintain your horses coat, encouraging healthy coats to grow back during summer and reducing the risk of skin conditions developing.
It can also help with certain health conditions. Typically, horses shed their coats in Spring to prevent overheating in the Summer and to allow them to grow a thicker coat for Winter. Some health conditions can prevent horses from shedding their coats therefore, clipping may be the only way to get rid of that thick Winter coat before Summer.
Clipping can also help with wound management. Either to prevent wounds from tack rubbing or to treat and manage wounds that are hidden under their coats.
With my own set of clippers, spare blades, and extension cable, I can take the stress out of clipping. In addition to full or half clips I also pull manes.

If they become overly agitated to the point where continuing may be dangerous to me or the horse I may have to stop part clipped. We can then discuss a method to finish the job with additional precautions in place.
